1. 2036 Panel Contract
Spatial Vision has been successful in seeking appointment
to the NSW Government's 2036 Panel Contract for Software Development
Services.
The 2036 Panel Contract is intended to provide an efficient
mechanism for NSW Government agencies to engage reliable and
proven providers of software development services.

2. Melbourne Water GDA Strategy
The day to day business operations of Melbourne Water are
significantly reliant on spatially related information represented
in various business systems and the corporate GIS. The process
of migrating Melbourne Water's extensive spatial data holdings
and applications to GDA94 presents a number of challenges.

3. 2005 Graduate Cadet
Spatial Vision is pleased to announce the appointment of
Elizabeth Marasco as our new Graduate Cadet for 2005. Elizabeth
graduated from RMIT's School of Geospatial Sciences in 2004.
Spatial Vision established the graduate cadetship to assist
graduates secure significant practical commercial experience
in the geospatial industry.

4. Accessing the Murray River
The first in a series of Murray River Recreational User Guide
Booklets. Designed for visitors touring the area, the booklet
has information regarding recreation facilities including
camping, boating and fishing within NSW and Victorian Parks
and Forests, and major walks.
The A4 booklet covers both banks or the Murray River between
Ulupna Island and Yarrawonga at a scale of 1:25,000.
The map book has a recommended retail price of $4.95.

5. Wildlife Atlas
Spatial Vision has been commissioned to redevelop the Atlas
of Victorian Wildlife application for the Biodiversity and
Natural Resources Division (BNR), part of the Victorian Department
of Sustainability and Environment (DSE).
Spatial Vision has worked with BNR staff to develop a new
data model for the Atlas to be held in an Oracle RDBMS and
is now developing a new client/server application in PowerBuilder
to enable the entry, validation, management, querying and
reporting of the Atlas information.

6. NSW Fisheries Mobile Application
To ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety
regulations, oyster leases are regularly inspected by NSW
Department of Primary Industries Fisheries Officers.
To improve the efficiency of recording and reporting of inspections,
NSW Department of Primary Industries contracted Spatial Vision
to develop a mobile solution enabling officers to store inspection
details (while in the field) and for these details to then
be easily integrated with the Fisheries corporate database.

7. Assisting Lower Murray Water Implement New GIS
In 2004 Sunraysia Rural and Lower Murray water authorities
were merged to form Lower Murray Urban and Rural Water (LMW).
The challenge for IT Consultant Bob Cook, was to coordinated
a team to establish an integrated asset management system.
There were two fundamental issues to address: what GIS &
Asset Management System combination to adopt and how the bring
the two organisations asset data into one system.

Technical Tips:
8. Python - Scripting in ArcGIS 9
With the release of ArcGIS 9, ESRI has added support for
the Python language. Python scripts can be written and added
as Tools to ArcEditor or ArcView to perform the type of processing
tasks previously written in AML or Avenue. Tools can be configured
to easily pass one or more arguments to the Python script.
