What's
New from Spatial Vision:
1. Fire Protection Maps
The Minister for Primary Industry, Bob Cameron has opened the new Bendigo
Fire Incident Control Centre. The control centre includes a 2.7m by
2.6m large format wall map prepared by Spatial Vision. The wall map
includes a Landsat imagery backdrop and the latest road and public land
information including recently declared Box Iron Bark National Parks.
Spatial Vision also prepared weather sealed and UV resistant table maps
for use in fire towers.

2. ESRI Australia appoints Spatial Vision as an
"Agent" under NSW Department of Commerce's GIS Services Panel
Spatial Vision is pleased to announce that ESRI Australia has appointed
the company as an "Agent" under its contract to the NSW Department
of Commerce's (DoC) GIS Services Panel. The "Geographical Information
Systems and Related Services Panel" (No. 864) is provided as a

3. Melbourne City Council EView
The City of Melbourne (CoM) has selected Spatial Vision to deploy Enterprise
View (EView), an Enterprise Information Portal that allows the integration
of disparate corporate datasets in a web environment using spatial data
as its unifier.

4. GBRMPA wins award for technology and productivity
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority received a SILVER award
from the Australian Technology in Government Committee and National
Knowledge Network for its "Protected Environment Management System
(PEMS)".
PEMS
is a state of the art "spatial database application" that
was designed and implemented by Spatial Vision. PEMS provides GBRMPA
staff with an important management tool and the public with information
regarding the management of tourism, development, scientific research
and other activities requiring a permit in the Marine Park.

5. IT Strategy for Fisheries
Fisheries Victoria recognises that effective Information Management
is critical to successful resource management and monitoring. Fisheries
Victoria has contracted Spatial Vision to undertake a review of their
key information and to recommend a strategy to improve their compatibility,
their compliance with current standards and to identify opportunities
to improve reporting capabilities.

6. GIS Water User Group (GWUG)
Spatial Vision has facilitated the establishment of the GIS Water User
Group to provide a forum for Water Authorities to share their experiences
in implementing and managing GIS. The forum enables GIS users to consider
common issues faced in the industry, learn about trends in spatial information
technology and data, and discuss industry standards.

New
Projects:
7. LIS Architecture Options
Spatial Vision was contracted by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service
(NPWS) to assist in the selection of a suitable architecture to create
a new Land Information System (LIS). The aim was to integrate all of
the software and data requirements, support a variety of user interface
applications and work effectively in the NPWS IT environment, especially
in terms of network impact and security. The architecture would also
be required to support future NPWS applications.

8. ABS Statistics Online - ASO
Spatial Vision was just completed development of the ABS Statistics
Online (ASO) application for the Victorian departments of Sustainability
and Environment, and Primary Industries to make ABS statistics available
to departmental and Catchment Management Authority (CMA) staff. ASO
is a web-delivered application with an integrated mapping capability
which enables users to easily query the broad range of available data
and to view the results in table or map form. Results can also be downloaded
for further desktop analysis.

9. Digital Air Photo Applications
Digital aerial photography is key base data for many operational Geographic
Information System (GIS) applications. The spatial resolution of aerial
photography is typically flown at less than 1 metre and provides an
extremely useful tool for land use planning/inventory. In order for
the digital photographs to be of value, they must first be registered
to a map base and then joined together to form a single continuous image
of a given area of interest.

10. Grampians Water
Grampians Water has spent considerable time and money collating information
on assets across their region. Spatial Vision has assisted Grampians
Water to establish their new GIS with data linking their Asset Management
System details to the asset location data. The information architecture
implemented by Spatial Vision will underpin future deployment of the
Grampians Water GIS.
