What's
New from Spatial Vision:
1. Quality Assurance Certification
Spatial Vision is proud to announce that it has achieved quality assurance
certification to the ISO9001:2000 standard.
Glenn Cockerton, Spatial Vision’s Chief Executive, said “the
achievement of certification was a great team effort".

2. Assisting Implementation of New Barrier Reef Zones
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority contracted Spatial Vision
to assist the implementation of new zoning frameworks which were designed
to protect biodiversity resources.
Spatial Vision recently completed the project, having created maps
and artwork for 41 different types of boat ramp signs and an interactive
web mapping application showing the new zoning structure.

3. CFA Map Books Help Protect Melbourne's Fringe
Spatial Vision has once again been selected by the Victorian Country
Fire Authority (CFA) to update a regional map book. This map book (ESMAP)
is focused on regions fringing the Melbourne Metropolitan Area. Spatial
Vision recently completed production of two other regional map books
for the CFA.
A feature of the new ESMAP publication is that it will use spatial
data consistent with that used in others areas of the emergency response
sector.

4. Map Books of TXU Electrical Assets
To improve emergency response and planning for infrastructure maintenance,
Spatial Vision has been commissioned to create a book of maps depicting
all TXU electrical utility assets across eastern Victoria. These maps
will be issued to all TXU field staff.

5. Tools to Classify Native Vegetation
The Wimmera Catchment Management Authority (WCMA) has contracted Spatial
Vision to develop a GIS-based toolbox to assist staff to routinely run
two key remnant vegetation analyses.
The Toolbox is being developed to enable future tool additions and
will be fully integrated into Wimmera CMA’s ESRI ArcGIS environment.

6. Whole of Victorian Government eServices Panel Contract
The Victorian 'Whole of Government eServices Panel' was established
to enable Government agencies to readily select proven companies to
undertake a range of web-related contract work.
The panel is comprised of a list of pre-approved suppliers from which
Government departments may select using streamlined procurement processes.
Spatial Vision has been reappointed to the Panel for general web services
and J2EE development services. Spatial Vision is increasingly being
sought to develop J2EE-based web applications. Our appointment to the
panel will enable these agencies to engage our services more easily
in the future.

Project
Outcomes:
11. Atlases for National Oceans Office
The National Oceans Office (NOO), based in Hobart, is charged with development
of management plans addressing the conservation and exploitation of
natural resources over the vast oceans jurisdiction of Australia.
Alicja
Mosbauer, NOO's Marine Data Manager, had the challenge of providing
national information across Australia's oceans jurisdiction as well
as specific information on the Northern Planning Area (NPA).
Ms
Mosbauer led a national tender process that selected Spatial Vision
to produce a series of map based information products identifying the
many non-fishing uses of the Australia oceans jurisdiction.

Technical
Tips:
12. Planning conversion to GDA94
The Geocentric Datum of Australia (GDA) was officially launched in Australia
on the 1st January 2000. Whilst many public and private sector organisations
have adopted GDA already, many others are still planning their conversion.
This
technical tip outlines conversion planning and technical issues that
need to be considered for GDA conversion.
