To support the successful adoption of the new Spatial Vision
VicMap books, Country Fire Authority (CFA), have commissioned
Spatial Vision to produce a range of map products including
CFA Region based wall maps and CFA Group map products.
The wall and group maps will be produced for five CFA regions
covered by the Central and North West editions of the Spatial
Vision VicMap book. These regions include Bendigo, Mildura,
Kerang, Geelong and Ballarat. The wall maps to be produced
are a combination of both wall-mounted wall maps with metal/wood
backing and laminated only maps.
The regional wall maps will have a map scale consistent
with the scale of the map pages contained in the new Spatial
Vision VicMap map books, which is either 1:50K for the Central
region of the state including outer metro Melbourne (and includes
the Geelong and Ballarat CFA Regions) and 1:100K for balance
of the State.
In addition to information contained in the Spatial Vision
VicMap map books, the wall maps and group maps will also display:
compass roses for nominated fire towers; CFA regional boundaries;
and total fire ban boundaries.
Wall maps will utilise suitable map strips that can be wall
mounted and laminated, while CFA group maps will be based
on standard map sizes of A0 or A1.
The wall map and group map products will be prepared early
in the 2006/2007 fire season and will be used in conjunction
with operational use of the new Spatial Vision VicMap books
within CFA.
