Improved Digital Elevation Model delivery at Spatial Vision
|
|
Spatial Vision has recently taken steps to improve the delivery of the DSE's Vicmap Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data. DEM data is available to all clients that purchase Vicmap Elevation data.
Previously Spatial Vision was only able to provide the data in the DSE supply format of individual 1:100,000 mapsheet tiles in ESRI GRID format in Vicgrid AGD66 projection.
Spatial Vision can now supply each of the map tiles in GDA94 Vicgrid projection at no extra cost when you purchase Vicmap Elevation. In addition, we have improved our processes to make it more economical for clients to receive DEM data stitched together to a geographic extent, format and projection of their choice. Vicmap DEM data can be provided to any extent from a single mapsheet to full state, in a variety of formats such as ESRI GRID, ASCII GRID, Geotiff, ngrid and MapInfo tab.
Spatial Vision has produced a single state-wide DEM, based on the 20 metre DEM data supplied by DSE. In order to keep the DEM to a manageable size, Spatial Vision has also resampled the data to create a seamless 100m DEM covering all of Victoria. The size of this DEM (in its native ESRI GRID format) is 247 MB. A single 1:100,000 mapsheet tile DEM is about 28MB, but there are 105 tiles!
If you would like further information on any of the items in the Vicmap corner or would like a quote for Vicmap data or are interested in other DSE datasets, please call Jeremy Alcorn at Spatial Vision on 03 9691 3000 or email data@spatialvision.com.au.
