Regional Statistical Profiles for Future Schooling Needs

View Press Release ( 80b)

Spatial Vision has been commissioned to produce a number of Regional Statistical Profiles by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD). These Profiles will assist regions and schools to undertake planning for the Department's Building Futures program. The historic and forecast demographic and socio-economic data and associated analysis delivered through project reports will assist schools and DEECD regions in understanding their broader environment; the characteristics of their local community and expected changes over the coming decades.

Spatial Vision has been contracted to produce Profiles for three of the nine DEECD Regions across Victoria. Each report involves analysing and presenting a range of demographic and socio economic data drawn from the ABS Census of 1996, 2001 and 2006 for local government areas. The Profiles also include the latest State Government population forecasts.

The information will help shape regional educational goals and strategies. In addition, the broader contextual information provided in each Profile, including transport routes and infrastructure, will assist with planning and assessment of different options, particularly where multiple school sites are involved.

The Spatial Vision team was led by Glenn Cockerton and includes Lucy Minato, Cristhiane Da Silva Ramos and Peter MacKenzie.
