Press Release - October 27
2004
The Geospatial Information Reference Group (GIRG) was established
by Land Victoria to provide advice on issues relating to the
development and implementation of state-wide spatial information
policies, strategies and incentives. It was comprised of representatives
from the SI industry, academia and government. The 2004 –
2007 Victorian Spatial Information Strategy (VSIS) recommended
the escalation of this forum to address these issues at a
whole-of-government level. Accordingly, the Government, via
the office of the new Chief Information Officer, has established
a new Victorian Spatial Council.
Spatial Vision's Managing Director, Glenn Cockerton, has
been invited to join this Council as a representative of the
SI industry.
