Press Release - December
14 2006
The third map book (covering south-west Victoria) in Spatial
Vision’s award winning series of topographic map books
has been released. Consistent with Victorian Government regions
and local government boundaries, the map book has been produced
using the latest 1:25,000 Victorian Government topographic
information (Vicmap).
Detailed township maps show road names plus emergency services
depots and infrastructure, traffic lights and other barriers,
municipal offices, churches, schools, post offices and other
community infrastructure, as well as dominant land uses.
In rural areas, a series of 1:100,000 scale maps show the
latest rural addressing information provided by local government
authorities and contours, public land, building points, water
features and vegetation cover. Selected rural areas are also
shown at 1:50,000.
These books have now been adopted by all of Victoria’s
emergency services as well as the State’s emergency
dispatch system. The books are also being used by a wide variety
of state government agencies (including Department of Sustainability
and Environment, Department or Primary Industries, Parks Victoria,
and many Catchment Management Authorities), utilities and
local governments throughout Victoria.
The new map book series has been developed by Spatial Vision
in partnership with the Victorian Department of Sustainability
and Environment and the Country Fire Authority in an initiative
to make state-wide topographic mapping more widely available
throughout Victoria. This public-private partnership creates
a number of opportunities to further rationalise and consolidate
maintenance and update processes for topographic mapping data
in the State.
Each book in the regional series will be updated every two
years.
These books are available by contacting Spatial Vision at
info@spatialvision.com.au or from leading map sellers throughout
the State.
