Nexus for VicRoads

View Press Release ( 73kb)

VicRoads recently purchased Spatial Vision’s Nexus product as a means of assisting with the maintenance of their property database, VISTA. VicRoads is interested in changes to the property base, particularly as they affect properties owned and maintained by VicRoads. VicRoads is responsible for over 70,000 properties across Victoria.

The basic unit of processing for Incremental Update Format (IUF) data is a Local Government Area (LGA). IUF data is provided in LandXML format on a fortnightly basis. Nexus allows for the processing of incremental data such as replaces and insertions into spatial features on an LGA, regional or state-wide basis. Nexus works in two stages; the first being the creation of datasets for INSERTS, REPLACES and DELETES based on the processing area defined; the second stage being integration with the master dataset. This allows VicRoads to perform spatial analysis against their VISTA property data on a state-wide basis, quickly identifying any properties where boundaries have changed for each fortnightly period.

The City of Boroondara has also recently adopted Nexus to replace their existing full-file replacement process. The City of Boroondara was looking to streamline its data take-on procedures to allow for more regular data updates in incremental format. Boroondara is using the two stage process to check on proposed updates prior to integration with their master property dataset. Boroondara is the second municipality to adopt Nexus as their IUF processor.
