View Press Release ( 36kb)

The Department of Sustainability & Environment (DSE) is keen to facilitate the development of tools that will:

  • streamline the development of Regional Pest Animal Plans;
  • provide transparency and flexibility in the decision making process; and
  • have the potential to be implemented across regions in a consistent manner.

To support this requirement, DSE is supporting the Goulburn-Broken Catchment Management Authority (GB CMA) undertake a pilot project that involves development of a rule based approach, supported with spatial datasets, to assist in allocation of investment for rabbit & fox control across the GB CMA jurisdiction.

Spatial Vision has been engaged by DSE to undertake the pilot project, which will involve the development and application of a methodology that incorporates the key concepts in current fox and rabbit models in additional to new requirements.

The project involves the provision of expert advice from the Department of Primary Industry, Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria in both the methodology development and output review components of the project.
