Press Release - January 11 2006
Parks Victoria and the Point Nepean Community Trust are responsible
for the development of a new Management Plan for Point Nepean.
This is a very significant development, not the least because
it is the first time the Commonwealth and State Governments
have worked collaboratively to develop an integrated and long
term vision and strategies across two land tenures.
Parks Victoria recently appointed Spatial Vision to undertake
a series of "Have Your Say" brochures and display maps to
actively encourage community participation and involvement
from interested individuals and groups in the preparation
of the Draft and Final Management Plans.
The Draft Plan has posed many challenges for the planners
and for Spatial Vision in preparing a range of detailed map
products. The Planning Area is unique in that it comprises
a mix of highly modified environments such as the Quarantine
Station - former Defence land, and the natural settings of
the existing Point Nepean National Park.
Under this arrangement, Spatial Vision is responsible for
producing:
• A Regional Locality Plan
• Area maps detailing access, visitor facilities, existing
buildings within the Quarantine Station, proposed zoning and
a proposed setting plan.
The Project will involve providing a Draft set of Plan and
Display maps over a three month period to allow for community
input and stakeholder consultation. Interim Display maps may
be required to keep the public informed.
Final Plan maps will incorporate the outcomes of the consultation
process.
