As the ‘face’ of the company, a receptionist needs to be friendly yet professional, efficient yet provide great attention to detail, friendly yet business-like.

A bit about us:
Spatial Vision is leading specialist technology service provider and producer of mapping products. We provide business systems, advanced spatial analyses, strategic advice and practical mapping applications to address some of the country’s most pressing environmental, economic and resource issues.  Spatial Vision also produces a range of informative map products for emergency services, recreational travellers, regional businesses and outdoor enthusiasts.

This position offers:

  • 12 month maternity leave position, leading to part time after 12 months.
What we expect from you:
  • Duties will include but not limited to;
  • Managing the front house reception
  • Greeting and directing clients in a professional manner
  • Answering incoming calls, processing incoming mail and processing outgoing mail
  • Organising couriers
  • Providing administrative support for staff
  • Arranging car hire, travel and accommodation
  • Taking product orders and organizing deliveries
  • Maintaining office supplies/equipment
Key Selection Criteria and skills:
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent phone manner and customer service skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Use of initiative and multi-tasking
  • The ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and on deadlines
  • Basic skills in MYOB are desirable but not essential

Current Vacancy - Senior GIS Consultant

Spatial Vision is a specialist GIS and IT consulting company operating from the Melbourne CBD. An opportunity has arisen for a senior GIS consultant and project manager to undertake a range of GIS related projects with clients including the design, implementation and administration of spatial infrastructures. We would also look to this position to lead and manage the design and development of web-based, desktop and mobile GIS applications.

Key Selection Criteria are:
  • At least five years experience as a GIS consultant and developer in a commercial environment
  • Significant experience in the design, implementation, optimisation and administration of spatial databases
  • Significant experience in the use of relational database management software, preferably Oracle and/or SQL Server and the SQL language.
  • Significant experience in the design, implementation and administration of spatial infrastructures using both vendor-based and open source GIS components
  • Experience in the preparation of project bids.
  • Experience in the management of projects and project teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills for use both within the company and with clients
  • Ability to prepare concise, high quality reports and documentation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in GIS and/or IT or equivalent experience
The following would be highly regarded:
  • Experience in the design and implementation of information systems for natural and constructed asset management applications
  • Experience in the design, development and implementation of customised  desktop and mobile GIS systems using ArcGIS, ArcPad and ArcObjects and development languages including Python and C#.NET
  • Experience in the design, development and implementation of web-based GIS systems using software components such as ArcGIS Server, MapServer, GeoServer and OpenLayers and development languages including ASP.NET, C#.NET and Java/JSP, HTML and Javascript
