The CRC-SI, in conjunction with project participants Western Australian (WA) Department of Health, Landgate and Curtin University's School of Public Health, have a long term objective to implement a Spatial Health Intelligence Platform to spatially enable, model and visualise health information for clinicians and public health staff to use. The overarching goals are to optimise resource allocation through better identification of high risk populations, better diagnosis and early stage treatment, improved strategic planning and better dissemination of health information.

The CRC-SI consortium are approaching development of the Spatial Health Intelligence Platform through a series of staged development steps, beginning with a Spatial Health Module to interface with Department of Health's existing Epidemiology system. The module is intended to enhance the spatial and analytical capacity of the Epidemiology system through improved visualisation of health related data.

Spatial Vision has been contracted to undertake development of the Spatial Health Module. Spatial Vision's proposed solution is a custom developed ESRI ArcGIS Server software application using the Flex application programming interface. The Flex framework provides the ability to create a rich, dynamic Internet application that delivers on the requirements of the Spatial Health Module and is intuitive, easy to use, interactive and responsive, and based on modern, aesthetical web design components.

Spatial Vision will commence the project by building a prototype for the user interface of the application to assist consultation with key user representatives.
