Spatial Vision is pleased to announce that the third edition of the South West Vicmap Book is now available.
The Edition 3 series builds on the significant improvements already made as a result of the collaborative effort with our partner organisations, the Department of Sustainability and Environment and the Country Fire Authority.
Edition 3 continues to benefit from ongoing improvements to Road and Address information. Users will also see benefits from our adoption of DSE’s new ‘Vicmap Features of Interest’ data set. This is the most authoritative and up-to-date source (to which CFA and Spatial Vision actively contribute) for key features such as schools, hospitals, emergency service locations, life-saving clubs, aged care facilities and many others.
South West Edition 3 is also the first book to benefit from the adoption of the most authoritative and up-to-date building points available. Geoscience Australia has undertaken a state-wide topographic data capture project to capture the location of structures using the latest high resolution aerial photography. This source is better than anything used in the past for both presence/absence and spatial accuracy. CFA volunteers are also working to update the classification of these structures.
The map book program is an ambitious and important one for Victoria. It has been responsible for significant progress in the delivery of a common topographic map base for the state’s emergency services agencies. Lucy Minato, Mapbook Manager.
