"One of the true tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency."  - Arnold H. Glasgow

In many cases, successful emergency response starts with a map. The question of “where” is fundamental to instigating an effective response to an incident, the deployment of resources, the assessment of risks and the safety of the community.

How does Spatial Vision support Emergency Management?

Spatial Vision has a long history of involvement in the provision of information tools to support emergency response, especially to wildfires. Our products and services are being used by an increasing number of emergency service organisations throughout Australia. This has meant Spatial Vision has acquired an unparalleled understanding of spatial technology requirements within the emergency management sector.  This contribution and experience is illustrated through delivery of projects including:

  • Implementing a national system to manage the bio-security of Australia’s primary industries and the broader environment, that supports an appropriate response to managing emergency and routine incidents of disease, pests or incursions
  • Developing and implementing methodologies to identify, classify, quantify and map environmental, economic and social assets and evaluate the consequences of wildfire on those assets
  • Designing and preparing customised large scale wall mounted maps for incident control centres and circular fire tower maps, in addition to hardcopy emergency map directories and accompanying digital products
  • Producing road network geoprocessing tools to support analysis of travel-time coverage and related scenarios based on current and proposed emergency service agency station locations.

Spatial Vision is the Australian distributor of EmerGeo™, a world leading software platform designed for emergency managers that provides them with a complete Common Operating Picture (COP).   Spatial Vision has supported implementation of this software on a trial and operational basis in various states by emergency service agencies.
