"A new wave of technological innovation is allowing us
to capture, store, process and display an unprecedented amount of information
about our planet and a wide variety of environmental and cultural phenomena.
Much of this information will be "georeferenced" - that is, it will refer to
some specific place on the Earth's surface" - Al Gore, former US Vice President.
Many of the benefits of spatial technology can only be realised if a broad range of accurate and timely spatial data is easily and reliably available. This spatial data framework can then be used to permit information of interest to be viewed and interpreted in an appropriate context. Such a framework, including the spatial data itself and means by which to collect, manage and disseminate it, are known as a Spatial Data Infrastructure or SDI.
How does Spatial Vision assist support Spatial Data Infrastructures?
Spatial Vision has extensive experience in designing, implementing and managing the various components of SDIs. This has involved working closely with spatial data management organisations to ensure that management processes are effective, optimised and deliver reliable, high quality spatial data. These services have also been based around the need to establish and maintain appropriate metadata systems and processes.
Spatial Vision has also had a strong involvement in providing support in the application side of SDIs, designing and implementing core SDI applications to deliver spatial mapping capabilities across organisations.
