Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards

Spatial Vision’s Visualisation of Groundwater Management Units project has been awarded the 2009 Victorian Spatial Excellence Award for Innovation and Commercialisation.

Working closely with the Groundwater and Licensing division of Department of Sustainability & Environment, Spatial Vision developed a web-based platform for planners and policy makers to visualise GMUs in 3D and access related management information.
A key component of the web-solution was the ability to link to management information held in DSE’s Groundwater Management Unit Inventory. In this way, the 3D visualisation tool serves as a means to explore and access related information in a user friendly environment.

“The key to this project was delivering a tool that didn’t require an advanced knowledge or training. In achieving this a wide range of users can quickly and effectively carry out queries,” said Milos Pelikan, Project Manager at Spatial Vision.

Glenn Cockerton, Managing Director, was understandably thrilled with the result. “We are delighted to once again have some ‘silverware’ to show off. The team has delivered some great projects over the past 12 months and it is tremendous to have them recognised.”

“Once again we have the opportunity to take out an Asia Pacific award which is a very hard thing to do,” said Mr Cockerton.

Spatial Vision is currently hosting the models as part of its Groundwater Management website.
